A lot of us are trying to be more conscious of the environmental implications of fast fashion, by buying less, shopping for second-hand or vintage pieces, and by adopting more of a ‘make do and mend’ mentality when it comes to clothes we already own. Unfortunately for some of us, the time, patience and skill required for the ‘mend’ side of things can escape us despite our best intentions.

Enter Bubbles Laundromat’s alterations and repairs service. In addition to their laundry services, Bubbles’ talented seamsters and seamstresses can take up hems, re-line coats and repair those much-loved garments that we wish we could wear forever, including vintage patterns. When I needed some alterations to a dress, I was shown to the dressing room at the back of the building so that I could try on the outfit and demonstrate the changes I wanted. They take notes, measurements, pin here and there, then take the garment to work on - they’ll text you when it’s ready so simply pop back and get ready to rock on with your [newly-altered] frock on!
